PumpkinFest!

Monday, October 29th

Starting at 4:00-5:30 PM

Join in the fun as our staff, residents and families create our forth “all-around-the-community-Pumpkin-love-fest”. This year RiverCourt is inviting the community to pick up a free pumpkin. We will be devoting several afternoons of activities to work together to have the largest, most awesome assortment of Pumpkins displayed at RiverCourt

Pick up a pumpkin starting midday on 10/20 from out “Pumpkin Patch”. Decorate it and bring it back by 10/29 for to be displayed and judged. Judge your self. Winners will receive a prize!!

Enjoy some cider, pumpkin whoopie pies and a beautiful display of pumpkins.

The Virtual Dementia Tour is a Scientifically proven method of building a greater understanding of dementia through the use of patented sensory tools and instruction.
During a Virtual Dementia Tour experience, participants meet with certified trainers who guide them though the tour and outfit the with patented devises that alter their senses.
Tasks and exercised that are part of the tour enable caregivers and professional to experiences for themselves the physical and mental challenges facing those with dementia.

Who, Me? Thoughts on Driver Evaluation, Driver Rehabilitation, and Driver Retirement.

Kristen Dixon Keilty is an occupational therapist and driving instructor who runs the Keys to Independence, driver evaluation and rehabilitation program at Emerson Hospital’s Center for Rehabilitative and Sports Therapies.

Her program helps people assess their current fitness to drive and make plans for when driver retirement becomes a recommendation or a necessity.

Vision loss has been linked to difficulties with daily living activities, high blood pressure, heart disease, strokes, falls, and depression. People frequently equate loss of visual function to old age and assume that nothing can be done to improve quality of life. However, many elders with vision loss are surprised to learn that they can continue many of the activities they enjoyed before.
