Outstanding Company/Organization Award — named for the late Roy L. Jeannotte, it is given to a company or organization that has made a substantial contribution to the lasting enhancement of the Nashoba Valley Region by demonstrating exceptional leadership and community involvement.

This year’s winner is RiverCourt Residences in Groton.

RiverCourt Residences sits on a site that has played a key role in the industrial development of the Nashoba Valley. Speculation is that mill work started in 1744 as the first leatherboard manufacturer in the United States. In 1997, Capstone Properties began talking with the Town of Groton about their vision to restore the mill and to provide a much needed service to the community. With cooperation from the towns of Groton and Ayer, RiverCourt Residences, an Independent Living/Assisted Living/and Memory Care Community, was opened in 2002. Since then, RiverCourt Residences, and its residents and staff, have become an integral part of the community. Their commitments include volunteering at Groton Senior Center, RiverCourt Chorus provides entertainment at local nursing homes, sponsor of concerts on the RiverCourt Common, knitting caps for soldiers in Afghanistan, hosting annual ALZ Memory Ride, to name a few.
