Claire and Arthur, a couple in their eighties, were ready for a move to a Senior Living Community. Arthur was struggling with a debilitating neurological disorder and Claire had an arthritic condition that was beginning to limit her mobility. They both acknowledged that their driving was becoming a hazard to themselves and others. They came for a complimentary lunch and tour of RiverCourt, recognized several of our residents and staff, and fell in love with a new Independent Living Apartment. They wanted to make the move, but Claire and Arthur were not sure they had the physical and mental strength to facilitate such an emotional undertaking.

“Our highly skilled Marketing Team, who have orchestrated hundreds of moves, offered to visit their home, armed with the apartment layout and dimensions, and help with their organization.”

Because moving from one’s own home is such an emotional process, it was very important that our team help them determine what items held their most valued memories…what furniture offered them the most comfort…what clothes were needed for each season…what wall hangings, pictures, plants, would offer them the most familiarity…always being aware of respecting Arthur and Claire’s control of their possessions and life choices. A delicate balance.

After tagging their well thought out decisions, we lined up a highly skilled, local senior moving company and set a date for the move.

Moving day was a huge success. When Arthur and Claire arrived at their new RiverCourt home, their furniture was placed as they had chosen…living room was almost identical to the home they had lived in for over 35 years…bedroom was ready for a cozy night’s sleep…bathrooms set up for a warm shower…kitchen ready for morning coffee. They both sat in their loungers and cried tears of relief and joy.
